History of DeVoe
Well before Naples and Southwest Florida grew into the internationally-renowned destination it is today, Richard Harry DeVoe was quoted as saying he thought Naples, FL would be a "great place to do business." This was when DeVoe Buick-Cadillac, at its current location on US 41, was surrounded on all sides by wilderness. Given the exponential growth of Naples, this same view looks very different today.
Richard Harry DeVoe is from Muncie, Indiana. He was previously a Used Car, Edsel, and Chevrolet dealer before moving to Naples, FL. Richard Harry DeVoe and his family owned the Rustling Palms apartments before founding the Buick-Cadillac dealership in 1968.
However, Richard Harry DeVoe's father was in the car business as early as the 1920's in Indiana, meaning the DeVoe Family has been in the car business as long as the business has been around! Richard Harry DeVoe's brothers were also involved in the car business and Fred DeVoe's descendants still operate a dealership in Alexandria, Indiana today.
From the beginning, Richard Harry DeVoe made excellent customer service the vision of his dealership, and it was this vision that started building the impeccable reputation that DeVoe Automotive has today. The community supported DeVoe Automotive when it first began, and DeVoe continues to give back today through the DeVoe Scholarship Fund to local high schools and many other charitable causes.
During its 50+ Years in Southwest Florida, DeVoe Automotive has established itself as a family-run business, employing the sons and grandchildren of Richard Harry DeVoe. DeVoe Automotive currently has 2nd and 3rd generation family members working at its DeVoe Cadillac and DeVoe Buick-GMC-Subaru dealerships.
